FormeType is an independent type foundry based in Switzerland. We design typefaces made to be used, from editorial design and brand identity to digital products, alongside bespoke typefaces developed for specific brands and projects. FormeType is the typographic counterpart to Forme.ch, a graphic design and corporate design studio. The two share an environment, references, and the same attention to lettering, while operating independently. FormeType licenses are available worldwide to studios, agencies, publishers, and individuals.

We work with brands and institutions to design bespoke typefaces, from complete type families to custom scripts and logotype treatments. Each project starts with a specific typographic brief and develops a typeface tailored to its context, purpose, and identity. This custom work allows us to explore type beyond the constraints of a retail typeface and create solutions made specifically for each project.

FormeType was founded by Tim Meylan, a graphic designer and typeface designer. His work draws on the Swiss typographic tradition while remaining attentive to contemporary uses. He is particularly interested in the space between a letter designed to be read and one designed to make an impression — and in typefaces capable of doing both.
